Susan Arness, PLCGS, is the owner of Perham Hill Genealogy.
She has a life-long fascination with family history.
Susan completed her first research project at the age of fourteen when she researched the pioneers who built her (former) home on Perham Hill Road in Farmington, Maine.
Across the years she has become familiar with several European languages (French, German, Spanish and East European languages) including Latin. She also has a love of local history.
Susan holds advanced level certificates in Methodology, Canadian, and DNA Studies with the International Institute of Genealogical Studies.
She is an active member of the Wellington Branch of Ontario Ancestors (OGS). She is currently Vice-Chair, co-Editor of Traces & Tracks (quarterly newsletter), Council Member and Volunteer with the Friday library drop-in sessions. She also conducts presentations and workshops on behalf of the group at various libraries.
Susan specializes in Ontario research but also has the tools and training to research anywhere outside of her locale. She has done projects involving Irish Palatine, Loyalist, Mennonite, and other Southern Ontario settlers. A recent project involved German settlers in the Czech republic.
She is passionate about researching house histories.
Lastly, she would be thrilled to help adoptees (or anyone else with unknown parentage) find their birth families.
