Presentations Scheduled for 2024

I am thrilled to share a list of presentations planned for 2024. Please check library websites (links at the bottom of the page) to confirm dates and times before planning on attending. Registration is mandatory for all presentations. These are given on behalf of the Wellington Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society (Ontario Ancestors). I am looking forward to each and every presentation!

-Jan 22 (Monday)(2-4pm) - Elmira Branch (65 Arthur Street South). Family History Research Using Ancestry Library Edition and Ancestry's Subscription-based Programs. Join us for a hands-on computer demonstration and workshop on getting started with Ancestry. Bring your laptop or tablet and your questions on navigating Ancestry (library edition or the subscription based edition)

-February 6 (Tuesday)(5:30-7:30pm) – New Hamburg Branch (145 Huron Street). Family History Research Using Ancestry Library Edition and Ancestry's Subscription-based Programs.

-February 21 (Wednesday)(3-5pm) – Ayr Branch (137 Stanley Street). The Basics of Researching House Histories and Land Records.

-Feb 24 (2-4pm) (Saturday) - Guelph Public Library (100 Norfolk Street). An Introduction to Family History Research. Learn how to research your family history including where to begin, how to gather family stories, determining what records are needed and how to record the information you find.

-March 20 (3-5pm) (Wednesday) – Ayr Branch (137 Stanley Street). Researching Canadian Military Ancestors.

-March 23 (2-4pm) (Saturday) - Guelph Public Library (100 Norfolk Street). A Closer Look at Family History Records. In this session, the various types of records which can provide insight into our ancestor’s lives will be discussed.

-Tuesday, March 26, 2024, on ZOOM at 7:00 p.m. ET Basics of House History and Land Record Research. Join us as Susan explains why researchers are interested in house history and land record research. She will outline the available resources, what you can expect to find, and the process for accessing the key records. Susan will use case studies to provide a “real-life” learning experience.
